Now that you've found the courage to take on this commitment of such awesomeness, beard growing also takes a little care. Here are some tips to help you over the next few months:
- Let it grow. Wait at least 4-6 weeks before trying to shape a beard. Shaping and trimming a beard too early is a common mistake. Let it grow a little wild at first (about an inch), then you can start man-scaping.
- The itch. This is the point where it’s easy to give up. Do not let itching deny you your beard! Stick with it as it will get better in a few weeks as your skin adjusts to this new environment. You can soothe your skin with moisturising lotion/oils or other skin products available for beard care.
- Man-scaping. If you choose to want to trim your beard than you may want to find a barber who is great at beard styling or give it a go yourself. Of course, let it go wild and see where it takes you!
- Shampoo/Conditioner. It's a good idea to use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner as opposed to your standard bar of soap to keep your beard clean and in good health. This will avoid your beard getting brittle and also from drying out your skin. Wash your beard at least 3 times a week and make sure you rinse out the conditioner to avoid any flaking.
