My wife and I were excited for our first baby when she fell pregnant in 2010. We quickly did all the preparation shopping, put a cot and bassinet on layby, and eagerly awaited our new baby.
Unfortunately this went downhill when we were told our baby had downs syndrome and hypoplastic left heart syndrome at a 14 weeks scan. Obviously this was heart breaking and many tears were shed. We wanted our baby.
Our daughter Mia was born sleeping at 21 weeks on 22 March 2011.
I'm growing my beard for this cause because I know first hand the grief of baby loss, and the support that is needed for the parents, not just in the short term but long term as well.
